Awarded to the student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has completed the best paper on a topic relating to the history of Prince Edward Island which makes extensive use of archival materials.
Background:
This prize was established by the Public Archives of Prince Edward Island. The Public Archives and Records Office of Prince Edward Island (PARO) acquires, preserves, and makes available for public research the records of the government of this province and private-sector papers and records deemed to be of lasting historical value. As well as textual materials such as correspondence files, journals, and newspapers, holdings are rich in materials in other formats and media such as photographs, maps, architectural drawings, film, and sound recordings. The Archives provides service to students, historians, genealogists, government officials and interested members of the public.
