Background:
Frances (Frankie) MacMillan Dindial was a librarian at St. Dunstan's University when there was only one; The Librarian. She worked a number of years, married and moved away: had a child, divorced and returned to PEI. Realizing that she needed more than a basic Arts Degree, she left her child in Quebec with a sister, moved to Halifax and, during a full year of intensive study, achieved her Masters in Library Science. This librarian had a life-long love of books and that is not necessarily a requirement for the job. She loved music and art and had a large collection of local artists paintings and a very large collection of classical music on vinyl. She loved theatre: Attending performances at UPEI and Confederation Centre was compulsory. She became a physical presence and a financial supporter of the Arts community on PEI. Three days before her 57th birthday, she died of cancer. She would have had a grand enthusiasm for this musical scholarship established in her name.
