Floyd Trainor Award
Faculty of Arts
Cycle: Fall
Value: 500
Criteria:
Granted to a student who is pursuing a degree in Creative Arts, Journalism, or Fine Arts and who has the highest average overall in their previous year of study.
Background:
Floyd Trainor was a graphic artist employed by UPEI in the graphics department and was a member of CUPE Local 1870. He was a well known graphic illustrator and artist when he was employed at UPEI. When he died, CUPE 1870 wanted to create an award in his name to be awarded to a deserving UPEI student. It was felt that a prize for the studio arts course was an appropriate way to remember Floyd and his art.
