Dr. Ninian N. LeBlanc Alumni Award

Criteria:
Awarded to a PEI high school graduate entering first year who has a strong academic record, a demonstrated financial need, and who is not already on a renewable scholarship. Recipients may receive this award for four years consecutively, provided they maintain full-time registration status and the academic requirements of 75% in first year and 80% in subsequent years.

Background:
Dr. Ninian LeBlanc taught biology to thousands of students during his thirty years as a professor at Prince of Wales College and UPEI Dr. LeBlanc's personal commitment to his students and his dedication to establishing a high standard of excellence for PEI's new University were outstanding. In 1999, Dr. LeBlanc's colleagues in the Faculty of Science, together with the Alumni Association of the University of Prince Edward Island, created this award to honour Dr. LeBlanc's outstanding contribution to UPEI and to continue his life's work; assisting students achieve their educational goals.
