Background:
Dr. Wenonah Foster was born in Wales. She was trained as a medical doctor and came to PEI with her husband, Reverend John Foster, in 1959 where she had a distinguished medical career. Dr Foster was deeply interested in astronomy and contributed strongly to the Charlottetown Astronomy Club, of which she was President in 1991/92. The knowledge she shared was appreciated by all members and Dr Foster has been sadly missed since her death in 1997. In respect of her memory and love of astronomy, the Charlottetown Astronomy Club established the Dr. Wenonah Foster Memorial Prize in Astronomy at the University of Prince Edward Island.
