Criteria:
Awarded to a student in their fall semester of the Bachelor of Education program who shows a high degree of competence in teaching and relating to students, has achieved high academic performance, demonstrates a dedication to international/cross-cultural issues, and is not receiving another major donor-funded scholarship. The award will alternate each year between students in the B.Ed International specialization and those following the standard B.Ed or B.Ed French program. If there are two equally qualifying candidates, preference will be given to a female student.
Background:
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International (est. 1929) is a professional honorary society of women educators with an International mandate in support of women educators. The Prince Edward Island IOTA chapter was established in 1984. Delta Kappa Gamma promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education. The Delta Kappa Gamma (Prince Edward Island IOTA Chapter) Award is established at the University of Prince Edward Island to assist and support women educators on all levels.
