Background:
This scholarship is established at the University of Prince Edward Island by the staff of APM in honour of their CEO, Tim Banks. The only individual from Prince Edward Island identified as one of the Top 50 Chief Executive Officers in 2008 (and a five time recipient) by Atlantic Business Magazine, Tim Banks is well known as an exceptional business leader, a supporter of his community and a respected and valued CEO by his staff. Known as a bit of a 'maverick', Tim has always pushed the boundaries and worked tirelessly to see his businesses succeed. As noted in the Atlantic Business Magazine, Tim is well suited to their ideal of a Top CEO, a little bit lawless in the most positive sense of the word because they consistently question the status quo. They rarely follow convention. And they are always searching for more efficient and effective ways of getting the job done." APM is one of the largest construction and design-build companies in the Atlantic region and includes offices across Canada including Charlottetown, Halifax, Toronto and Calgary. The staff of APM has chosen to honour their CEO Mr. Tim Banks, with the creation of The Tim Banks Entrepreneurial Spirit Award at the University of Prince Edward Island.
