Criteria:
Awarded to a student who has completed their third year of academic study, has excelled in Accounting 3010/3020, has demonstrated a high level of involvement/leadership in the community through participation in university/community activities, and is seen as a leader amongst their peers and acts as a positive role model for fellow students.
Background:
This scholarship has been established by BDO Canada's national office and by five PEI Partners of BDO's Charlottetown and Summerside offices. BDO in Canada is the country's fifth largest single national accounting and advisory Partnership, with more than 3,000 Partners and professionals. BDO's services run from assurance, accounting and taxation services to financial advisory and corporate recovery. BDO Canada spans the entire country with a central national office to coordinate the utilization of resources. The various departments at National Office (Accounting and Auditing, Taxation, Computer Services, Marketing, Communication, Professional Development and Human Resources)exist to serve the needs of its local offices. BDO Canada recently merged with two firms in Atlantic Canada, including locations in Charlottetown and Summerside, Prince Edward Island. As a gesture of support for its new Atlantic Canada presence, and in partnership with the five BDO Partners in the Summerside and Charlottetown, PE offices, BDO Canada has established this scholarship to support an accounting major at the University of Prince Edward Island.
