Flora Murchison Memorial Scholarship in Applied Human Sciences

Criteria:
Awarded to a returning student, majoring in Foods & Nutrition or Family Science, who is in good academic standing and has displayed extraordinary volunteerism and leadership on campus and in the greater community. Candidates must send a letter of reference to scholarships@upei.ca from a supervisor who can describe their volunteer experience.

Background:
Evelyn Patricia "Patty" Matheson lived a long and productive life. She passed away at the age of 98. She was the wife of the late Robert D. Matheson and sister of Florence Simmons and the late Louis (Agnes) Simmons. Based on her belief in the value of post-secondary education Evelyn Matheson left a substantial bequest to the University of Prince Edward Island, including funding for four scholarships and a major residual and undesignated gift. This award one of four established through the estate of Evelyn Matheson, honours her aunt, Flora Murchison, and is to support students in Applied Human Sciences formerly known as Family and Nutritional Sciences.
