Background:
Charles and Ethnee Booker grew up in a small community and raised their family along the Saint John River, 25 miles outside Saint John, New Brunswick. They were blessed with 6 children,18 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Charles and Ethnee did not have opportunity to pursue formal education. They both were successful in the jobs they did chose and were very involved in their community supporting family and friends who were less fortunate than them. They believed in education for their own children and encouraged them to complete high school and post secondary training. Charles passed away in 1982 and is deeply missed by the family. His legacy is strong as it is often said, "Grampy would be so proud." Ethnee's greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud of their academic accomplishments and saw this as such a legacy for the family and the fulfillment of their dreams as well. Ethnee passed away in October of 2014 in her 96th year. This award is to pay tribute to their desire for learning and their love of their family
