After retiring from a full career of teaching, he continued to give generously of his time and expertise, assisting young musicians through private lessons, helping junior/senior high school bands, and participating in the UPEI Wind Symphony. A passionate musician, Dan modeled professional commitment and dedication to his craft, and his exceptional performing abilities were not limited to the classical sphere. Indeed, he was recognized as a pillar of the local jazz scene and was frequently in demand as a prized special guest artist for a number of pop bands.
