Criteria:
Granted to a student who is in full-time undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Arts and has received a positive decision on a refugee claim to settle in Canada, or is a recent immigrant (within the past five years) to Canada, and has a demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to the applicant who identifies as a refugee.
Background:
In 1995, Dr. Kujundzic received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Waterloo. Kujundzic came to UPEI in 1997 as an assistant professor of philosophy, before becoming an associate professor in 2003, Interim Dean of Arts in 2013, and Dean of Arts in 2014. He has been a member of the UPEI Board of Governors and the UPEI Senate. He also held positions on the UPEI Presidential Hiring Committee, the University Review Committee, and the Research Advisory Committee. Neb was also Chair of UPEI's Department of Philosophy from 1998-2004. In October 2015, the University of Prince Edward Island launched the INSPIRE Campaign. Dr. Neb Kujundzic, Dean of Arts, generously decided to support this campaign through the establishment of the Faculty of Arts Newcomer Award.
