Background:
David O'Malley-Keyes was born in the United States and lived there for most of his life, but a large part of his heart was with Prince Edward Island where he vacationed throughout his younger years with family, and visited as often as possible in later years. David lived life to the fullest and spent many years travelling around the world. His adventurous spirit took him on motorcycle trips to South America, across the US, and as far away as New Zealand. His love of music and incredible ability to play a myriad of instruments was a constant companion. He played all across Alaska with his band, and some of his greatest joy came from his love of the piano and guitar and the fact that he could make both 'sing'. One of the last times David smiled was when he was told this award would be created in his name. David will be remembered by his seven siblings for his love of life, his adventurous spirit, his courage in the face of serious illness, and his determination to live every day like it was his last. This award is established by his family and friends to honour the love they had for this amazing man.
